Regional update: August 11

N2005P71023C

The Gaspé Peninsula and Magdalen Islands Public Health Board is reporting no new cases of COVID-19 in the region.

According to Public Health, their data now comes from the Public Health Trajectory information system (TSP). The transition of systems has generated minor discrepancies between case and death data prior to July 26, 2020 and data released today. The differences observed are a reflection of improvements made to data processing. The INSPQ data shows 210 cases in the region, so they’ll conduct quick verifications tomorrow.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in the Gaspé Peninsula and Magdalen Islands stands at 211. Of those cases, 200 (94.8%) have recovered from the virus. Currently, there are no COVID-19 related hospitalizations from the region (the case mentioned by Public Health last week was not caused by COVID-19). Regionally, fifty-four health care workers have contracted the virus, 21 are CISSS employees.
