New Brunswick imposes border restrictions

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, New Brunswick Premier Blaine Higgs, is imposing controls at the borders of the province to its Quebec, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Maine neighbours.

Those crossing the borders will be asked to give their name, address, phone number and the licence plate number of their vehicle. They will also be asked to provide a reason for their presence in New Brunswick. In the case of the Listuguj, Pointe-à-la-Croix and Campbellton residents, that type of control poses several potential problems, as people from both sides of the Restigouche River cross the J.C. Van Horne bridge on a daily basis to obtain services and go to work. The measures implemented by the New Brunswick government are supposed to take into account the necessity to provide essential services.
