Regional update: Maria screening trailer is relocated

Covid-19

Public Health has announced 22 new cases of COVID-19. Thirteen of the new cases are in Avignon MRC, two in Bonaventure MRC, four in Rocher-Percé and three in Côte-de-Gaspé. Tracing is currently underway for all the new cases.

Public Health states that the difference between provincial and regional statistics can be explained by the rapidly changing situation and that adjustments will be made over the next few days.

CHSLD in Maria (Residence Saint-Joseph)

The number of cases among residents at Saint-Joseph is 23 (+stable). Nineteen (+2) staff members at the Maria CHSLD (government owed long-term care facility) have tested positive for COVID-19. Seven (+2) individuals from the Residence Saint-Joseph have passed away as a result of COVID-19.

That CHSLD houses 91 residents and nearly 130 employees work there.

The Lady Maria residence is home to 130 individuals and nearly 45 staff members work there.

Update – Réné-Levesque School Service Centre

The Réné-Levesque School Service Centre has confirmed fifteen (+2) cases. Three classrooms have been quarantined. The educational facilities with positives cases are: CFP Chandler-Bonaventure, Bonaventure; CFP L’Envol, Carleton-sur-Mer; École Antoine-Bernard, Carleton-sur-Mer; École Bourg, Carleton-sur-Mer (1 class); École des Audomarois, Saint-Omer; and École Le Phare, Port-Daniel (2 classes).

COVID-19 Screening Trailer

The Gaspé Peninsula Integrated Health and Social Services Centre (CISSS) has relocated the screening trailer that was in the parking lot of Maria. The trailer is now located on rue des Engoulevents. A large sign with directions has been installed.

If you require a COVID-19 test, you must call 1 877-644-4545 in advance.
In order to optimize screening for those at a higher risk of being infected, access to screening could be refused for non-priority individuals.

According to the CISSS, you are considered a priority if you have symptoms of COVID-19, or if you had significant contact with a person with COVID-19. If you do not meet that criteria, the CISSS does not consider it necessary for you to be tested, unless it recommended by public health or a health care professional.
