There are no new cases of COVID-19 to announce today. The current statistics for the region are as follows.
The total number of cases in the Gaspé Peninsula and Magdalen Islands is 185, of those cases 171 have recovered (92.4%). The total number of deaths is stable at 8. Eighteen people have been hospitalized as a result of COVID-19. Currently only one of those individuals is hospitalized. That person is in intensive care outside the region Forty-six health care workers in the region have contracted the virus (18 of them are CISSS employees).
The breakdown of the 185 cases by health region (containing a hospital) is as follows:

- 4978 – deaths (an increase of 8)
- 52,849 – positive cases (an increase of 225)
- 972 – total hospitalizations (a decrease of 9)
- 128 – people in intensive care (a decrease of 1)
*As of May 19, the number of cured patients who are still hospitalized because they are waiting to be transferred will be excluded from the total number of hospitalizations. With the withdrawal of these patients, there is a significant decrease in the number of regular hospitalizations, but no decrease in the number of intensive care hospitalizations.
